Chiesa dell'Immacolata Concezione

The Chiesa dell'Immacolata Concezione is a compact Baroque chapel in Italy, attributed to Guarino Guarini. Its first stone was laid in 1673.

Built for priests of the Mission of Saint Vincent de Paul, the chapel uses a longitudinal plan. Two circular bays mirror each other inside. A transverse bay separates them, while double apses and side chapels shape the compact interior. Tall vertical pilasters mark each distinct interior space.

A continuous gallery runs around the entablature and channels daylight from high windows into the chapel. Diagonal ribs cross the small vaulted ceiling. The high altar combines polychrome marble, a raised mensa, a canopy-like structure, and an oval Madonna and Child. The Simiana coat of arms also appears there.

Giovanni Battista Crosato painted frescoes depicting the triumph of the Holy Trinity. Michele Antonio Milocco supplied painted canvases for the chapel. The Crocifisso chapel contains an altar designed by Bernardo Vittone and an altarpiece by Alessandro Trono. Saint Joseph has the chapel opposite it. Giovanni Antonio Mari created its painting, completing an interior where light, geometry and decoration work together.
