Haus des Waldes

Haus des Waldes stands in Stuttgart as a centre for forest education, where the surrounding woodland becomes part of learning. The setting brings nature close. Its interactive permanent exhibition, Stadtwaldwelt, explores the forest’s place in society and the natural world through hands-on experiences. Sinneswandel offers a barrier-free forest experience path. Visitors encounter native tree species, ecological connections and the principles of sustainable forestry through sight, touch and movement. The surrounding forest extends these discoveries outdoors.

For decades, the centre has served Baden-Württemberg as a competence centre for forest pedagogy within ForstBW. Its programmes bring together school classes, kindergartens, families, adults and certified forest educators. Workshops and seasonal activities give each group a different way into the subject. Forest adventures add practical experiences. Events for adults also connect woodland time with health, using holistic exercises to support wellbeing. A visit can therefore move from Stadtwaldwelt’s exhibits to the tactile route of Sinneswandel and into the trees themselves.

Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Stuttgart. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.

What is myTuur?
