Carl-Zeiss-Planetarium
The Carl-Zeiss-Planetarium stands in Stuttgart’s Mittleren Schlossgarten and belongs to the city’s architecture. It presents astronomy and space through educational programmes and entertainment.
Inside, advanced projection technology turns the dome into a setting for exploring the universe. The venue also hosts laser shows and interactive presentations.
Its story reaches back to an earlier Stuttgart planetarium, associated with astronomer Robert Henseling and Zeiss equipment. That earlier dome stood on the Hindenburgbau in Stuttgart.
The present building followed a donation of a Zeiss VI A projector and a design by Wilfried Beck-Erlang. Later upgrades added a Universarium IX projector and a full-dome laser system.
The dome hall supports programmes, live music, interactive formats and corporate events within this accessible architectural venue. Wheelchair access forms part of the recorded features.
A renovation brought advanced projection technology into the dome. The planetarium links space exploration with Stuttgart’s educational and cultural scene.
