Corral La Casa de Monipodio
Corral La Casa de Monipodio stands in Seville’s Triana district, beside the river and opposite the historic centre. The former palace house follows the civil architecture of the late eighteenth century, with two storeys across most of the building and three on its main façade.
Two courtyards preserve the communal layout of a Sevillian corral de vecinos, where homes gathered around shared open space. The principal patio has porticoed galleries on three sides, with semicircular and lowered arches resting on Tuscan columns with decorative mouldings. Eighteen apartments occupy the structure, while heritage protection safeguards its façades, patios, staircases and ornamental details. A plaque connects the building with Miguel de Cervantes’ novella Rinconete y Cortadillo, where Monipodio leads a guild of thieves in Triana.
From the riverside setting, you can see the Torre del Oro, the Giralda and Seville Cathedral.
