Kisha e Shën Nikollës Tutiqëve
Kisha e Shën Nikollës Tutiqëve stands in Prizren as a Serbian Orthodox church connected with the Tutić family. Its single nave carries a central dome, while the interior preserves two niches and an apse. Eastern windows bring light into the compact medieval structure.
Dragoslav Tutić and his wife Bela founded the church between 1331 and 1332. Later, its religious ties joined it to Visoki Deçan Monastery and Orthodox heritage in Kosovo. Fragments of fourteenth-century frescoes remain inside, offering traces of the original decoration. Restoration work between 1967 and 1970 helped preserve these painted surfaces. Serbia has protected the building as a cultural monument since 1990.
Unrest in 2004 damaged the church, after which European Union support contributed to its restoration. The protected monument now connects Prizren’s religious history with the region’s changing cultural past. Its surviving fresco fragments remain the clearest detail of a building founded nearly seven centuries ago.
