museum Fluxus+

museum Fluxus+ stands in Potsdam’s Schiffbauergasse cultural centre, where modern and contemporary art fill a dedicated exhibition space. Wheelchair access lets you move through its galleries, atrium, café, and art+life shop.

The permanent exhibition follows Fluxus, an international intermedia movement, through works by Wolf Vostell, Emmet Williams, Ben Patterson, and Nam June Paik. The ground floor also brings together Arman, Lebel, Christo, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Hains, Leve, and Ann Noël. Their works trace the avant-garde art of the latter twentieth century through varied materials and approaches. The collection came from private holdings and has shaped this Potsdam art centre since its opening in 2008.

The second floor focuses on Wolf Vostell, presenting small art objects, sketches, and paintings alongside contemporary interpretations by Costantino Ciervo, Hella De Santarossa, Lutz Friedel, and Sebastian Heiner. Vostell’s earliest sketches appear beside works completed shortly before his death, reflecting his roles as artist, composer, painter, designer, and video pioneer. His guiding phrase remains visible in the galleries: “Leben ist Kunst. Kunst ist Leben.”
