Evangelische Kirche Bornim
Evangelische Kirche Bornim stands in Bornim, a district of Potsdam, with a distinctive neogothic form. Ludwig von Tiedemann designed the church, built from natural stone and brick between 1902 and 1903. Its asymmetrical structure includes a rectangular 55-metre tower beside the southern transept and choir.
A church stood here by 1289, while the present building replaced a fifteenth-century predecessor. Three portals mark the western facade, and the nave carries a pointed wooden barrel vault above two aisles. The lower tower floors open into the nave, with patronage boxes arranged across two levels.
Fourteenth-century bells came from the earlier church and still connect the building with Bornim’s past. Viktor Paul Mohn painted the choir murals between 1909 and 1910, including the blessing of children by Jesus. Wilhelm Sauer built the thirteen-register organ in 1903, and Karl Gerbig reshaped its sound in 1964.
