Igreja de São Pedro de Miragaia

Igreja de São Pedro de Miragaia stands in Porto’s historic Miragaia district, combining Romanesque foundations with later Rococo decoration. Its façade carries blue ceramic azulejos. Inside, gilded woodwork covers the chancel and apse with carvings, floral motifs, sculpted figures, and ornamental curves. The main altar holds a sixteenth-century painting. The painting shows the descent of the Holy Spirit, with Saint John the Baptist and Saint Paul beside it. Romanesque stone forms remain beneath the ornament.
