Thalang Road stands in historic old Phuket Town, where Sino-Portuguese shophouses reflect Chinese, Portuguese, and Thai influences. Colorful facades and covered arcades define the street. The arcades, called ngor ka kee in Hokkien Chinese, provide shade, rain shelter, and space for displaying goods. Their long, narrow interiors use open courtyards for airflow, with shops, dining areas, kitchens, and bedrooms arranged behind each facade.

Small cafes, restaurants, boutiques, and local shops fill the street. China Inn combines a shop and cafe, while Kopitiam by Wilai serves Hokkien fried noodles. Mue Yium Old Phuket Coffee, Macchiato House and Cakebox, Eleven Two & Co, and Baan 109 Bar & Restaurant add more places for drinks, snacks, and meals. On Sundays, Thalang Road becomes a walking street market with local food, sweets, handicrafts, accessories, and street performances.

Soi Romanee branches nearby and contains cafes and guesthouses. The Hainan Shrine adds a red-fronted Chinese temple to the surrounding streetscape. Dibuk Road and Yaowarat Road continue the area’s mix of historic buildings, shops, and cafes. Thalang Road offers a focused view of Phuket’s architecture, local commerce, and multicultural street life.
