Apostelkirche Ovenstädt
Apostelkirche Ovenstädt stands in the Petershagen district of Ovenstädt, a few hundred metres from the Weser River. This three-bay hall church has a Romanesque core and a west tower.
Built between 1000 and 1200, the church changed through renovations in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. A later sacristy joins the southern side, while flat-arched windows and a trefoil-arched north portal mark the exterior. The tower carries the year 1640 and a restoration inscription from 1772.
Inside, a Romanesque chalice-shaped baptismal font is the oldest artwork. Baroque furnishings include an organ gallery from 1724, an organ case from 1763, and a pulpit with galleries from 1772. Two steel bells, cast in 1926 and 1952, still occupy the tower.
