Buschelkapelle
Buschelkapelle, also known as St. Michael’s Chapel, stands in Fröhlins, a district of Ottobeuren in Bavaria. The chapel is a small Roman Catholic building.
Its octagonal plastered structure follows plans by P. Christoph Vogt and was consecrated in 1729. Its history includes a period as a hunting lodge.
The building returned to its original religious purpose after restoration, preserving its architectural character and local historical role. Oval windows punctuate the chapel’s plastered walls.
Inside, a modern altar stands beside an Ecce Homo painting and an eighteenth-century crucifix. The flat ceiling keeps the interior simple.
Buschelberg places the chapel above Ottobeuren, with views towards the town and its basilica. A field path gives access to the hilltop site.
The chapel connects religious history, architecture, and the landscape around Ottobeuren in one compact place. The building is protected as a historical monument.
