Parco di Villa Finzi
Parco di Villa Finzi lies in Milan’s Gorla district, where leafy paths, historic buildings, and neighbourhood life share one enclosed landscape. American maples, cherry trees, and a rare paper mulberry shade walks and family outings. Two neoclassical temples add architectural interest, including the Temple of the Night inside an underground grotto.
The villa garden took shape in 1829 under Hungarian Count Batthyàny, a hussar officer. Later, charitable work created a garden house for local children and reshaped the grounds around community needs. The park also became a refuge for disabled children through cooperation with the Gaetano Pini Orthopedic Institute.
Playgrounds, a nursery, and a centre for older people now connect the historic setting with everyday neighbourhood life. Inclusive facilities allow visitors with different abilities to use the park’s amenities. The Temple of the Night remains its most striking surprise, hidden below ground within the leafy landscape.
