Palazzo Mazenta

Palazzo Mazenta stands on Via Amedei in Milan as a three-storey palace with a Baroque façade. Its frontage presents eight openings on each floor. A lowered arched portal anchors the ground level, with granite shoulders supporting its opening. A masonry finish gives the ground floor a distinct base beneath that entrance.

The Mazenta family built the palace between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. After their line ended in the late eighteenth century, the Prinetti family of Bergamo acquired it. In the early nineteenth century, the Marcelline Sisters made the building their residence for more than a century. Conversion into a hotel restaurant during the second half of the twentieth century caused the original interiors to disappear.

Prominent cornices frame the first-floor windows, resting on brackets beneath alternating curved and triangular pediments. Medallions connect the second-floor windows to the cornice across the upper façade.
