Palazzo Marietti
Palazzo Marietti stands at Via del Bollo 2 in Milan, with a nineteenth-century neoclassical façade above fifteenth-century origins. Its smooth rusticated ashlar gives the ground floor a solid, textured appearance.
A grand round-arch portal occupies the centre, with two pairs of pilasters supporting a balcony above. Corinthian pilasters rise across both upper floors, adding classical ornament to the symmetrical elevation. Rectilinear mouldings frame the main-floor windows, while simple cornices crown the second-floor French windows.
Tuscan-order columns in the portico preserve a plainer Renaissance note beneath the later façade. A smaller courtyard holds architectural elements from Milan’s demolished lazaretto, linking the palace to another vanished structure.
