Schloss Planta

Schloss Planta is a twelfth-century castle in Meran, South Tyrol, northern Italy, beside the Maia canal. Its thick stone walls stand among flower meadows, apple trees, gardens, and the villas of Obermais. The surrounding paths connect this quiet residential district with Meran’s city centre on foot.

Historic rooms now include modern apartments with kitchens, bathrooms, and contemporary furniture inside the medieval walls. The north wing contains a luxury apartment known as the beletage, overlooking the gardens and surrounding landscape. Renovations have brought present-day living into a building that reflects South Tyrol’s tradition of adapting castles and manor houses.

Hydrangeas and other flowers grow around the garden, while the canal continues past the orchard landscape. Palm trees and apple trees share the setting, revealing Meran’s Alpine and Mediterranean character.
