Ottilienkapelle
Ottilienkapelle stands in Amendingen, a district of Memmingen, as a small chapel surrounded by a colourful flower meadow. The meadow brings flowers and quiet to a busy local setting. Its architecture offers a simple place for pause, reflection and shared faith within the surrounding community.
A cross once stood blackened and lost before workers found it at a construction site. Careful restoration returned the cross to the chapel, where a special patronal service included its blessing. The ceremony also featured music from a small ensemble of the Amendingen music band. An inscription records the restoration in 2020: “God protected our homeland, renovated in the corona year 2020.” Margareta Böckh helped fund the work and shared the cross’s journey from loss to renewal. The chapel has no regular services, yet the restored cross and flower meadow preserve a visible spiritual and cultural landmark.
