Einhornapotheke
Einhornapotheke stands in Memmingen as a three-storey gabled building with a neobaroque façade. Its fifteenth-century origins meet later changes from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Basket-arched windows and a portal mark the ground floor, framed by two pilasters. A decorative frieze displays a pharmacist’s emblem and a unicorn above them. Terracotta sphinxes and urns divide the upper floors, while seated unicorns flank the gable. The south side projects over a corbelled arch, and a walled courtyard contains a seventeenth-century arcade with twisted wooden balusters.
The building served as a pharmacy until March 2019, then reopened as a cigar shop in 2020. Restoration preserved its historical character and brought the façade a prize in 2022.
