Det Skandinaviska Wakf i Sverige
Det Skandinaviska Wakf i Sverige is a large mosque and cultural centre in Sweden, combining prayer with community life. You would see people arriving for worship, classes, lectures, youth activities and cultural events, with the building serving as both a religious space and a meeting place.
Seven years of construction led to its opening in 2017, after an investment estimated at 120 to 140 million kronor. A donation of about 30 million kronor from Qatar formed the largest overseas contribution, while a Qatari vice-minister for religious affairs cut the ribbon at the opening. That funding brought the project to completion and prompted debate about foreign support and influence in religious institutions.
Daily activity gives the centre its clearest character: prayer, education and social gatherings share the same setting. From the street, its scale and steady flow of visitors make organised religious and community life visible.
