Mahrenholzhof
Mahrenholzhof stands in Fermersleben, Magdeburg, on the eastern side of the city facing the Elbe River. This heritage-listed former farmhouse includes a manor house, a residential tower, and an entrance gate near Martin-Gallus-Kirche.
The residential tower may date from the thirteenth or fourteenth century, although 1530 has also been suggested. Three floors rise behind walls that measure 1.4 metres thick at the base and 0.8 metres near the top, with two offset gable roofs above. A sundial marks the southwest corner. The brick and plastered manor house bears an inscription dating its construction to 1695, while larger windows and a wooden spiral staircase arrived during an 1878 remodelling. In 1916, a barn briefly became a cinema with 347 folding seats.
The entrance gate south of the house combines plaster with rubble stone and carries inscriptions linked to the Mahrenholtz family.
