Hlgst. Dreifaltigkeit

Heiligste Dreifaltigkeit stands in Niederraunau, a district of Krumbach in Bavaria’s Swabian region. This Roman Catholic parish church combines a 1627 nave with a recessed semicircular choir and a late Gothic tower on its north wall.

The tower rises 46 metres to the knob above its onion dome. Two octagonal sections added in 1617 hold the bell frame and clock, while four bronze bells have rung there again since 1996. Inside, a barrel vault covers the nave and a cross-vault spans the choir. Marble baptismal and holy-water basins, donated by Marquard von Freyberg in 1621, add finely dated details.

Documented history reaches back to 1067, when the church was dedicated to Saint Michael. Renovations later revealed ashlar masonry in the apse, probably preserving part of its original construction. Five ceiling paintings by Joseph Stehle, created in 1882 and uncovered during restoration, show family scenes connected with the promise that two or three gathered in Christ’s name are not alone.
