Sinan Paşa Türbesi
Sinan Paşa Türbesi forms part of the Koca Sinan Pasha Complex in Istanbul’s Eminönü district. The tomb represents Ottoman classical architecture in a historic Istanbul setting.
Built in 1593, the domed structure uses polychrome stone, stalactite capitals, and a thick stalactite cornice. Its geometry gives the building a distinct profile. Miniature onion domes accompany the main dome, while the tomb’s many-sided form maintains precise proportions. Koca Sinan Pasha commissioned the complex, linking memorial architecture with learning and public water.
A madrasa also occupies the same complex. Its courtyard is surrounded by domed arcades and includes a marble fountain with an octagonal form. This marble fountain marks the madrasa courtyard. The complex also contains a sabil, whose grilled windows and inscription plaques honour Koca Sinan Pasha. Yeniçeriler and Bileyiciler Streets meet beside the complex. Together, these structures show Ottoman design through stonework, domes, water, and educational spaces.
