Falknerei Tinnunculus
Falknerei Tinnunculus sits on Heidelberg’s Königstuhl, surrounded by forest, viewpoints and hiking routes. Falcons, owls and other birds of prey shape the experience.
Uwe Jakob founded the falconry in 2002 after flying a tame kestrel near his home at eight. Flight demonstrations bring these birds close as they fly, hunt and respond to their surroundings. Explanations cover their biology, behaviour, adaptations and protection in the wild. Groups can arrange special demonstrations for school classes, birthdays, weddings and team events.
The accessible grounds welcome families and mobility-impaired visitors. Heidelberg’s funicular reaches Königstuhl, while nearby paths include the Philosophenweg and Neckarsteig. One detail stays with you: the falconry takes its name from Jakob’s first kestrel, Tinnunculus.
