Freies Gymnasium Hannover
Freies Gymnasium Hannover stands in Bothfeld, a district of Hanover, inside a former military barracks. The private, state-recognised school shares its grounds with other educational institutions.
Founded in 1999, it became Hanover’s first gymnasium approved under non-church sponsorship. Education covers grades five through thirteen, with full-day teaching and fees linked to family income. Montessori methods guide learning in the associated primary school for younger pupils. Standardised examinations, including central Abitur assessments, have produced above-average results.
Lessons extend beyond classrooms through a partnership with Hof am Moore, where students explore sustainable farming and animal care. The school community also joins the Tulpen für Brot campaign, selling tulip bulbs for charitable causes.
