Nizzagärten
Nizzagärten is a waterfront promenade in Frankfurt, stretching along the River Main between Friedensbrücke and Untermainbrücke. Palm trees, fig trees, lemon trees and other Mediterranean plants create a small Côte d’Azur beside the river.
The 4.42-hectare garden thrives through southern exposure, shelter from the quay walls and sunlight reflected off the water. Its western arm continues the ramparts to the Main, while frost-resistant species remain outdoors through the cold season instead of moving to an orangery. This makes it one of the largest publicly accessible southern gardens north of the Alps.
Walk beside the river and you will find a Mediterranean landscape shaped by Frankfurt’s waterfront microclimate.
