Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf stands in Düsseldorf as a neobaroque government building with a 115-metre main façade. It rises above a high sandstone base. Traugott von Saltzwedel designed the four-storey complex with six wings and three inner courtyards. Its wheelchair-accessible grounds form part of Düsseldorf’s urban landscape.

Built between 1907 and 1911, the building first housed the representative seat of the Royal Prussian Government. Rooms now serve as the central office of North Rhine-Westphalia’s regional government. Reinforced-concrete piles reach about eleven metres below the ground, securing the structure on a former exhibition site. An attached palace provides reception rooms.

The central risalit carries six Roman-Ionic half-columns, an attic, and a mansard roof. A copper lantern bears a Prussian eagle. Inside, a staircase recalls the Escalier des Ambassadeurs at Versailles. Adolf Münzer’s murals brighten the plenary hall. Beyond it, Walter von Engelhardt’s garden arranges baroque features around a sports and playground, a kitchen courtyard, and a vegetable garden.
