Woodstock Town Hall Park
Woodstock Town Hall Park in Cape Town brings community life together around a concrete skatepark for local youth. Concrete ramps curve like waves, creating a transitional layout for skateboarders. The space offers a safe, motivating setting where young people can practise skills and discover the sport.
The project began with a proposal in 2014 through the World Design Capital co-design ward project. Local skateboarders helped shape its planning and design. Their involvement connected the finished space with a diverse skateboarding culture reaching across Cape Town.
Ramps and curvatures accommodate beginners and experienced skateboarders alike. The site gathers people through sport, with wave-shaped concrete forms providing its most distinctive visual detail.
