Built for the FIFA World Cup, the stadium rose on the site of the older Green Point Stadium. Its earlier planning name was Green Point Stadium. The translucent façade reflects the coastal setting, while cable supports give the roof a wave-like profile. Sunset can make the stadium appear to glow.
DHL Stadium serves football and rugby, including WP Rugby, the DHL Stormers, Cape Town Spurs, and Cape Town City. The venue also hosts concerts and rugby tournaments.
