Castel Sant'Antonio - Schloss Klebenstein
Castel Sant'Antonio - Schloss Klebenstein stands in Bolzano beside the Talfer River, where historic routes once crossed near an ancient bridge. The private estate presents a medieval residence shaped by centuries of architectural change.
A residential tower called Karnol began the complex in the thirteenth century, before fourteenth- to sixteenth-century expansions added a chapel and residential wings. Around 1900, a crenellated wall, large gate, second tower, and quadrangular pavilion created its present appearance. The small Baroque Chapel of Saint Anthony remains a defining detail, while the Talfer Promenade and Saint Oswald Promenade end nearby.
Below the estate, the covered Mühlbach begins as an artificial diversion of the Talfer River. Castel Sant'Antonio remains privately owned and cannot be visited inside.
