Zeughauskino
Zeughauskino is a non-commercial cinema in Berlin, housed inside the historic Zeughaus as part of the German Historical Museum. Its rooms sit on the Spree side of the building, away from the museum’s main entrance. Regular screenings began in 1992, following occasional film presentations there since 1958. A renovation in 2004 brought analogue and digital projection, including DCI 4K, to the auditorium.
Historical films shape the programme, with series devoted to filmmakers, themes and connections between periods. German film history and documentary cinema receive particular attention through programmes such as Berlin.Dokument. Contemporary works outside commercial cinema also find space here, often accompanied by introductions from scholars, historians or journalists. During the Berlinale, screenings include films from the Retrospective and Homage sections.
The auditorium holds 164 people, creating an intimate setting for film history and discussion.
