Pavelló d'oficials

Pavelló d'oficials stands on Turó de la Rovira in Barcelona, within a historical site overlooking the city. The restored structure once housed officers serving a military battery. Its setting combines surviving anti-aircraft structures, information panels, and wide views towards the Sagrada Família, Mediterranean Sea, and mountains. From the hill, Barcelona fills a complete circle.

During the Spanish Civil War, the building formed part of an anti-aircraft battery alongside troop quarters and a command post. The battery defended Barcelona against bombing from the air. After the conflict, disused military buildings stood beside the informal barri dels canons settlement, made from self-built homes. Postwar informal neighbourhoods once housed about seven percent of Barcelona’s population. A later restoration preserved the structure within the Museu d’Història de Barcelona’s open-air heritage museum. Panels and exhibitions explain wartime bombing, postwar lives, and the site’s changing uses.

A single viewpoint brings the Sagrada Família, Mediterranean Sea, and surrounding mountains into one panorama. The hill gives visitors a 360-degree view of Barcelona.
