Casa del Guarda del Pantà

Casa del Guarda del Pantà stands at the Vallvidrera reservoir within Collserola Natural Park, connecting Barcelona’s history with a protected natural setting. The reservoir forms a rare wetland in the Collserola range. Around it, marked paths lead through aquatic environments, holm oak woods, and pine forests, with the building serving as an interpretation centre.

The reservoir was built in 1863 to supply water to the old village of Sarrià. Four years of restoration preceded the building’s inauguration in 2010. Inside, the permanent exhibition “The reservoir and its surroundings” uses photographs and documents to trace the area’s changing roles, from water supply to leisure and conservation. The displays also explain how the wetland supports amphibian populations.

A heritage and nature itinerary circles the water and joins Collserola’s wider trail network. Its interactive version, “Empantanats!!!”, turns exploration into a scavenger hunt. Information and educational activities encourage careful behaviour around an ecosystem threatened by invasive species and unauthorised access.
