Luitpoldbrunnen

Luitpoldbrunnen stands in the open centre of a historic market square, close to an old town hall dating from the sixteenth century. Stone catches the light beside cobblestones and the quiet sound of running water. Three fountains shape this traditional setting: Luitpoldbrunnen, Michaelsbrunnen, and Vierröhrenbrunnen.

Public fountains here once combined practical water supply with decoration, making the market square part of daily town life. During the Thirty Years’ War, Vierröhrenbrunnen already connected to a water conduit. That tradition links this stone fountain with the public use of water and the decoration of the square. Meetings and small celebrations gathered around these water features, alongside pauses and quiet conversation. Timber-framed and masonry houses from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries ring the square, while water supplies a steady audible thread.
