Visitors and travellers
Is myTuur free? What does it cost?
Yes, the app is free and stays free, and you download it and use it without paying anything. The business model is optional in-app purchases for extras.
What happens after I install the app?
You pick a city and a tour, or Explorer mode shows what is around you. Each tour is a chain of spots: arrive at one, and its story starts. The story is a narration of around three to five minutes, with the text to read, photos and sometimes video. Tours also work downloaded, so a patchy connection abroad does not stop you.
How does a tour actually work while I'm walking around?
The app follows your position and starts each spot's story when you arrive. The routing adapts the tour to where you actually are. You can walk, cycle or drive: the navigation gives turn-by-turn guidance for all three. On iOS, the guidance continues on the lock screen.
What if the city I'm visiting isn't in myTuur?
You can request a city that is missing, and myTuur generates it. Coverage is worldwide at more than 500 cities, and the number keeps growing. That sets myTuur apart from catalogue-based guides: coverage is not limited to places somebody has already written a tour for.
Does myTuur work without internet?
Yes, you can download a tour before you leave and use it without a connection. That is the point for travel: the tour keeps working where the network does not.
Can I change which stops a tour includes?
Yes, you can toggle the spots of a tour on or off, reorder them, or skip one as you go. The tour card shows distance, duration and spot count before you start, and you can rate the tour afterwards.
What languages does myTuur come in?
The interface of the app speaks 21 languages, including Hebrew and Arabic written right to left. Narration comes in a growing set of languages, with English and German confirmed today. The app asks for the narration in your chosen language and falls back to another one when the spot has none. The written text and the interface stay available wherever the translations exist.
Which phones does myTuur run on?
myTuur runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and on Android 7.0 or later. You find it in the App Store and on Google Play under the name myTuur.
Can I use myTuur inside a museum?
Yes, you can use myTuur inside a museum wherever an indoor tour exists. At supported spots, you can point the camera at an exhibit or a building. The app recognises it on the device and opens the right story, and some spots carry AR overlays. The operative word is supported: recognition works where the material for it has been published.
Can I add my own photos or places?
The camera control for adding photos and videos at a spot is available to registered ambassadors. An accepted upload appears on the spot straight away, because there is no review queue today. Ambassadors also create whole spots and tours, with AI assistance in the creation.
Cities and tourism offices
Our city is not in myTuur. How do we get covered?
Any city can be requested, and it is then generated. Coverage is worldwide at more than 500 cities, and it keeps growing. Tourism offices and cities find the business side of myTuur at tourism.mytuur.com.
Can we publish our own tours and places?
Yes, ambassadors create spots and tours on the platform, with AI assistance in the creation. They also add photos and videos at spots that already exist, and an accepted upload appears straight away.
Who writes the tours, people or AI?
The texts and the narration are AI-generated, and the city coverage is AI-expanded. myTuur says this openly, in the app and here, instead of presenting the writing as human-curated. Photos carry their source wherever they appear: AI-generated, named photographers, Wikimedia.
Data and privacy
What does this website store about me?
This website stores three things, and each of them only because you set it yourself. Your theme choice and your accent colour are stored in your browser, and your language choice is stored in one cookie. All three are strictly necessary, which is why you see no consent banner here. The website runs no analytics and no tracking at all.
Where can I read the privacy policy?
There are two, because they cover different things. The website privacy policy covers this site: hosting, the three stored preferences, the newsletter and your rights. The app has its own policy for what the app processes. The footer links the website policy, and the website policy links the app's.
Tuurix, the AI guide
What is Tuurix?
Tuurix is the AI travel guide inside myTuur. You talk to it by voice in realtime, or you type in a chat. It answers questions while you are on a tour and beyond it. You can ask about the place in front of you, or about the city in general.
Can I talk to Tuurix with my voice?
Yes, Tuurix holds a realtime voice conversation, and the same guide answers in a text chat if you prefer to type. The apps also connect to Siri and Google Assistant, for commands like starting Discover mode.
