Marktplatz forms a compact historic square, with half-timbered houses surrounding a powerful late Gothic town hall. Dark timber beams stand against painted infill across the square. The town hall carries the year 1540, while its underlying structure reaches back into the fourteenth century. Its layered construction gives the building a strong civic presence.

At one corner, a pranger stands beside the Bamberger Elle, linking public justice with historical measurement. The former Rosenbergisches Zehnthaus faces the town hall with Baroque forms attributed to Johann Jacob Michael Küchel. Local mason Jacob Reutig junior and his journeymen built the Zehnthaus in 1749. The Catholic parish house adds a restrained Classicist element beside it.

Gothic, Baroque, and Classicist buildings frame the place called the town’s “gute Stube”. The Kapellenberg rises beyond the roofs, carrying the pilgrimage chapel known as the Käppele. Around the town tower and attached Fronhaus, a documentation centre addresses the Hexenturm. Together, these buildings and civic objects connect architecture with the town’s changing public life.
