In Würzburg, the Gartenpavillon des ehemaligen Augustinerklosters stands on the grounds of a police station. This single-storey building preserves the last surviving part of the former Augustinian Monastery of St George. Three sides open into a rounded arcade, while a hipped roof and plastered columns complete the Baroque design. The compact structure dates from the early eighteenth century and is generally attributed to Joseph Greissing.

The surrounding monastery complex disappeared or gained new uses as Würzburg changed. The pavilion now stands behind a fence, yet public access reveals information panels about the monastery and the police site. A memorial stone inside recalls St George’s monastery and Martin Luther’s visit in 1518. That surviving interior connects the small garden building with the wider history of the Reformation in Germany.

The pavilion’s columns divide the façade into clear sections beneath the hipped roof. Its open arches show how a garden building could combine shelter, display and leisure in Baroque architecture. Inside, the panels and memorial stone turn a small surviving structure into a place where Würzburg’s religious and civic history meet.
