Waterloo-Obelisk stands on Luisenplatz in Wiesbaden, Germany, commemorating Nassau soldiers who fell at Waterloo in 1815. Its red sandstone base supports an obelisk whose four sides carry emblems, initials, dates, and military imagery. The central setting replaced Geisberg, where planners first intended to place the monument.

Wiesbaden’s Beautification Association initiated the memorial with military support, and the Duke’s request brought it to Luisenplatz. It was inaugurated on 18 June 1865, marking Waterloo’s fiftieth anniversary. The unveiling accompanied church services, a theatre gala, and a veterans’ banquet, although several emblems came later.

The east face bears an A beneath a ducal crown, while the west carries W and Waterloo’s earlier date. North and south show F.A. and F.W. among flags and weapons, with cannons taken as Nassau war spoils. Nameplates beneath the emblems preserve the soldiers’ names, linking the monument to districts across the former duchy. A surrounding fence disappeared in 1935, and restoration followed underground-garage construction in 1983 and 1984.
