Jagdschloss Platte stands in the Taunus north of Wiesbaden as a former hunting lodge with classical architecture. Duke Wilhelm I of Nassau commissioned it. Built between 1823 and 1826, the lodge drew inspiration from Palladio’s Villa Rotonda in Vicenza.

The ducal family used the building as a summer retreat, welcoming Alexander II and Empress Eugénie. After a British air raid in February 1945, only the outer walls remained. A restoration led by the Jagdschloss Platte Foundation rebuilt the venue by 2007, retaining its ruinous character.

A modern glass roof contrasts with exposed walls and provides a panoramic view of Wiesbaden. A central staircase rises to a viewing platform beneath the roof. Bronze deer replicas installed in 2010 flank the entrance, recalling sculptures by Christian Daniel Rauch.
