Biebricher Wasserturm rises on Adolfshöhe in Wiesbaden-Biebrich, surrounded today by residential buildings. Its brick masonry, decorative façade, copper-covered roof, and height of more than forty-two metres make it a striking architectural feature.

Built between 1896 and 1897, the tower entered service in 1897 to increase pressure in Biebrich’s water network. Its circular tank held around 200 cubic metres and measured eleven metres across. An underground reservoir added storage capacity for the surrounding district. After Wiesbaden and Biebrich merged their water supplies, the tower became redundant and was decommissioned in 1923.

Until 1914, the structure also served as an observation tower. A steel staircase with 235 steps led to a platform beneath the top, where a tower keeper accompanied visitors. The large upper windows are decorative rather than views onto a walkway. Behind them, the protected water tank remains in place, with a spiral staircase running through its centre.
