Bergkirche stands as a Protestant church in Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse, Germany. The church occupies a high plateau within the city. Completed in 1879, it follows Johannes Otzen’s Gothic Revival design and the Eisenacher Regulativ. A cross-shaped plan and eastern choir meet an octagonal transept. Otzen shortened the nave to draw the congregation toward the altar and pulpit, reflecting Martin Luther’s concept of universal priesthood. Paintings, stained-glass windows, and sculptures fill the interior.

Concerts and Protestant worship share the building, whose musical life includes a choir and successive organs. Christian Pfeifer leads the Kantorei der Bergkirche. The choir has performed Arvo Pärt’s Johannespassion and Handel’s Messiah during Wiesbadener Bachwochen. The original 1879 Walcker organ gave way to Steinmeyer in 1931, received rebuilding in 1948, and was replaced in 2016. The 2016 organ has forty stops across three manuals and a pedal.

The octagonal transept concentrates sightlines on the altar and pulpit rather than extending a long nave. A Gothic outline frames that focused interior.
