Palazzo Bellavite is a sixteenth-century palace in Venice, standing in Campo San Maurizio within the San Marco district. It is also known as Palazzo Bellavite Baffo and Casa Baffo. Merchant Dionisio Bellavite commissioned the building on the former site of San Maurizio’s bell tower. That change followed an agreement with the church. Paolo Veronese once painted the façade, although no trace of those decorations remains today. Two plaques recall poets linked with the palace. Poet Giorgio Baffo lived here, and Alessandro Manzoni also stayed at the palace. Both names connect the façade with Venice’s literary history. The architecture includes noble floors, serlianas with arched central windows, paired single-light windows, and carefully arranged façades. The interior retains eighteenth-century character, with frescoes attributed to Pietro Antonio Novelli. The palace houses a study centre and offices instead of a private residence. Palazzo Bellavite preserves links between Venetian architecture, San Maurizio, and the writers who lived within its walls.
