Kazerne B2 Fort De Bilt is a brick barracks within Fort De Bilt in Utrecht. The building provided accommodation for soldiers within the fort complex.

Fort De Bilt formed part of the New Dutch Waterline, which used controlled flooding and forts to defend the Netherlands. Floodwater protected roads and higher ground from advancing armies.

The auxiliary barracks reflects interwar military architecture through its long rectangular plan, dark tiled gabled roof, and practical layout. A small eastern extension served as a guardroom.

Its single main floor, attic, and irregularly spaced openings show the practical design of a later addition. Five dormers mark each side of the roof.

Part of the original barracks made way for a road, prompting construction of this additional accommodation. New frames and double glazing update the windows.

Unlike older bombproof fort buildings, this auxiliary structure prioritised soldier accommodation rather than protection from artillery fire. The building stands on the fort’s southern side.

Its history connects brick construction, changing military technology, and the Dutch use of landscape as a defensive instrument. The building is recognized as a national monument.
