Eberhardskirche stands in Germany with red brick walls and clear, restrained architectural lines. Martin Elsaesser designed the church for the growing southern community.

Built in the early twentieth century, its exposed brick challenged local church traditions. Elsaesser omitted a tall tower and stained glass.

The spacious interior resembles a gathering hall, with high windows and a deliberately simple arrangement. Altar, pulpit, and font once formed one line.

That alignment gave visible form to the equal importance of word and sacrament within worship. A freestanding bell tower later joined the building.

Colourful concrete glass windows by Gisela Dreher-Richels and a crucifixion painting shape the interior. Stones near the entrance represent the four Gospels.

A large crucifixion painting by Käthe Schaller-Härlin hangs before the choir. Eberhardskirche remains wheelchair accessible and connects worship with neighbourhood life.

Plans describe community spaces for gatherings and events. The building shows how church architecture can adapt while retaining its red-brick character.
