Turnul de apă Iosefin stands beside the Bega Canal as an industrial monument in Timișoara. About 52 metres define its profile near the water. Engineers János Lenarduzzi and Richárd Sabathiel designed the tower between 1913 and 1914. Its structure supported pressure across Timișoara’s early twentieth-century water network. Inside, water tanks shared space with employee living quarters and a telephone connection to the water plant. The drinking-water tank held up to 500 cubic metres. An industrial tank held 250 cubic metres and drew water directly from the Bega Canal. That lower tank distinguishes Iosefin from the similar tower in the Fabric district. The paired towers marked opposite ends of the city’s water distribution network. Their engineering answered periods of high demand across Timișoara. The tower also appears as an endpoint on tours through Iosefin and along the Bega Canal.

The city hall took ownership from Aquatim in 2012. A 2008 proposal connected the building with a cultural café and coffee museum. That idea linked the tower with Francesco Illy, who was born in Timișoara and invented an espresso machine. Historical photographs show the tower as a lasting feature of the city skyline. Its architecture records how practical infrastructure became part of Timișoara’s local heritage.
