Palatul Dr. Adolf Vértes stands in Timișoara as a residential building completed in 1910 by architect László Székely. Architect László Székely designed the residence in the Art Nouveau Secession style. Its geometric façade combines wrought iron, heraldic ornaments, and military-inspired forms beneath the first-floor windows. A corner tower carries a distinctive iron finial. The entrance on General Berthelot Street has an ovoid skylight with surviving fragments of stained glass. Its hall features bas-reliefs and a wrought-iron stair railing. Stylised tulips decorate the railing, while a female-figure bas-relief remains beneath a second-floor window. Piața Plevnei developed from an animal market into a residential area. The palace gives the square a larger presence among buildings designed mainly for living in the old Iosefin district. Lawyer Dr Adolf Vértes originally owned the residence. His civic roles included municipal work, leadership of the Neolog Jewish community, and service in Timișoara’s cultural life. The palace belongs to the protected urban site of old Iosefin.
