The Robert-Schlienz-Stadion stands in Bad Cannstatt, a district of Stuttgart, within the wider Neckarpark area. It is a football ground with standing terraces for VfB Stuttgart’s youth teams. Built between 1981 and 1982, the venue originally carried the name Amateur-Stadion. Its setting connects local football with one of Stuttgart’s main sports and entertainment districts.

After Robert Schlienz died in June 1995, VfB Stuttgart renamed the ground in his honour. Schlienz was a celebrated player for the club. The first match under the new name featured VfB Stuttgart’s B-youth team against Eintracht Frankfurt. A 400-lux floodlight system arrived in 2001. That upgrade met German Football Association requirements for regional league matches, but not third-tier standards. VfB Stuttgart II therefore moved its home fixtures to the Gazi-Stadion on the Waldau for the 2008–09 season. Following relegation to the Regionalliga Südwest, the reserve team returned during the 2016–17 season. Promotion back to the third tier later moved its matches to the WIRmachenDRUCK Arena in Aspach. The floodlights remain a precise reminder of how the ground supported competitive football while retaining its place in the club’s youth system.
