Richard Löwenstein stands in Stuttgart as a Stolperstein set into the pavement, where pedestrians encounter remembrance during everyday journeys. A brass plaque marks the place. The plaque forms part of Gunter Demnig’s Stolpersteine project, begun in 1992 to commemorate people persecuted under National Socialism.

A ten-centimetre concrete cube supports the plaque beneath the pavement’s surface. These memorials mark the last freely chosen residence or workplace of each person remembered. The wider project honours Jewish victims of the Holocaust alongside Sinti and Romani people, Poles, homosexuals, disabled people, Jehovah’s Witnesses and others.
