Lutherkirche stands in Bad Cannstatt, Stuttgart, as a protected cultural monument with predominantly Neo-Gothic architecture. Richard Böklen and Carl Feil designed this church. It rose between 1895 and 1900 according to the principles of the Eisenach Regulation. Brick gives the building a distinctive historical presence. Its design combines Neo-Gothic structure with Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau influences. The main nave includes an eastern side nave. Inside, a ribbed vault spans the nave, while the recessed southern choir contains windows by Wolf-Dieter Kohler. Four corner turrets surround the octagonal pointed helmet. On the northern facade, buttresses support the tower beside biforium-style sound arcades and gabled clock faces. The Walcker organ occupies the eastern side nave. Wartime destruction affected the choir, sacristy, roof, and all windows before restoration. Restoration brought the church back to worship in 1950. Kohler designed the choir windows, and Regine Schönthaler created the chapel’s stained-glass window. Numerous donors supported later work on the exterior. Later exterior conservation includes renewed roofing and stabilisation of the church’s natural stone.
