Kriegsbergturm rises on Stuttgart’s Kriegsberg hill as a round sandstone observation tower shaped like part of a Romanesque castle. The site lies 353 metres above sea level. From its platform, you can see Stuttgart’s city centre, the Schurwald, and the Rems and Neckar valleys.

Architect Carl Weigle built it in 1895 for Stuttgart. The Stuttgart enhancement society commissioned the sandstone monument for the city’s Kriegsberg hill. A major restoration followed from 1983 to 1995. Donations, city funding, and state monument support covered work costing 120,000 Deutsche Mark. Further renovation took place in 2017 and 2018. In January 2019, the Baden-Württemberg Monument Foundation named the tower Monument of the Month.

The parapet forms a clear battlemented outline. The attached open hall continues the castle reference beside a platform overlooking Stuttgart, the Schurwald, and two valleys.
