Citröhan Haus stands in Stuttgart’s Weißenhofsiedlung as a 1927 prototype house by Le Corbusier. Concrete pillars frame large windows and open interiors. The housing estate emerged from a Deutscher Werkbund exhibition promoting affordable homes through modern architectural ideas. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius also shaped this modernist setting.

Le Corbusier developed the design alongside Dom-Ino and Monol as models for housing that industry could produce. Industrial aesthetics meet cubist geometry throughout the structure. Concrete supports leave the interior flexible, while large windows bring daylight into the double-height living area. The arrangement expresses his idea of a machine for living, with openness taking precedence over enclosed rooms.

A mezzanine overlooks the spacious double-height living room. In 2016, the house joined Le Corbusier’s works on the UNESCO World Heritage list for their role in Modern Movement architecture.
