The Esfera Bioclimática is a spherical structure in Seville, created for the Universal Exposition and designed by architect Manuel de la Calva.

Its dome uses a geometric arrangement of rhombic polygons. Separate parts form layered construction across the broad spherical frame. Floodlights and floral motifs give the interior and exterior a changing visual presence. The structure originally formed part of the exposition’s bioclimatic system, which cooled visitors through micronised water droplets, fountains, and channels. The fine droplets evaporated before they could wet visitors.

The cooling system was developed by a team led by thermotechnics professor Ramón Velázquez Vila. The sphere stayed in its original place after the exposition ended. Landscaped gardens surround the structure, creating a setting for walks and photographs. Sunlight reflects across its surface, producing colourful effects against the geometric framework. Educational displays sometimes explain sustainable architecture and environmental conservation. The Esfera Bioclimática connects architecture, environmental design, and Seville’s history of technological ambition.
